I can tell you about strangers online

I always tell my friends to be careful what you believe online. Just because a person says they are one thing, it does not make it so. You can have a little faith, giving someone the benefit of the doubt, but don't just believe and behave as though every word is truth and they can be trusted with your heart and security.

It isn't just that I know this from unfortunate experiences. It is because I can watch people I know in real life, people I have known in my 39 years of life, successfully deceive dozens of their online friends into believing they are "godly" and trustworthy. People who have friends on their page they know to have molested and raped young family members but allow these people to mingle with their underage friends and friends with small children. People who post scripture on their page, every status message being about behaving as a "good christian," and "not bearing false witness."

Yet, these are the people who abused their own kids in one form or another, sold their children for sex, participated in the kidnap and underage prostitution of their own 14 year old sister, threatened their father with bodily harm if he told what he knew, convinced people they were the real victim of everyone they victimized, etc.. etc... etc......

And their Facebook friends and even relatives they have not spoken to in years believe every word they say because it is said with gospels and scriptures and the assertion that they are some kind of ministers for Christ, they are grandparents, lies about having degrees for colleges they never even went to, all while hiding the very twisted horned skeletons in their closet...

As the family member of such people, I can tell you with absolute certainty that it is extremely dangerous to put your faith and trust into someone you meet on Facebook. I don't have to read the news to hear about people like the Craig's List Killer. I know people like that and I'm telling you, pretty words have no meaning when they come from a stranger on the internet.

Little old ladies and voice mail

You have to love wrong numbers from cranky old ladies! This was on my voice mail yesterday:

Woman 1 (on the phone): Oh.. oh...

Woman 2 (in the background): Did you get him?

W1: No, I don't think so. 

W2: Lord Jesus! Did you get him or not?! 

W1: Well, I don't know!  

W2: Lord God Jesus have mercy! Did he answer the phone??? 

W1: Now stop it! I done told you I don't know! Jesus! 

W2: Oh God have mercy! Jesus Lord Jesus, help me!  

W1: You need some help, Amen!  

W2: Heavenly Father help me! Did he answer the phone or not? It's a simple question, now!  

W1: I think it's the message machine. I think it's the wrong number. 

W2: What? You on the ... you still on the phone?! 

W1: Yes! I'm trying to tell you that!  

W2: Jesus God Lord have Mercy! Lord help me!  

W1: What is WRONG with you??  

W2: Hang up the phone! Just hang it up! Hang it up! I'm telling you... I just don't know ... Lord Jesus Lord God......

Facebook - the controlling husband's best friend

Some time back, a friend on Facebook suggested the name "Stalker Ticker" for that activity tracker above the chat list on the right. I immediately started referring to it as such, one reason being something I saw on a page this morning. 

A woman had commented on the Big Fish Games wall asking for help with one of their games. I'd helped her and then a few hours later, her husband commented on her post that instead of games, she should be "fucking cleaning the house!" I politely suggested beneath him that the BFG forum can't help with a divorce but she should seek one ASAP. His comment has since disappeared. But hey, isn't it great that Facebook helps controlling, abusive partners to stalk their significant others?

This heart symbol has been known to the FBI and international crime fighting agencies around the world, and when Heartbrand and Unilever (owner of Heartbrand) were contacted over 10 years ago about this, they were put in touch with the investigative agencies that could verify this information. They vehemently refused to change their logo and refused to discuss the issue further with anyone.

Unilever is based in Europe and prides itself on its philanthropic achievements ... while simultaneously supporting child rapists. That's right. Soon after they were contacted about their use of this symbol, sponsored ads from Unilever and Heartbrand started springing up on very well known and hardcore child porn and pedophile sites. These sites are hidden to the public but are monitored 24/7 by undercover agents.

Therefore, not only did Unilever and Heartbrand refuse to acknowledge any connection to the pedophile symbol, they went on to SPONSOR CHILD RAPE WEBSITES.

So if this is based in Europe, how does that affect us? In addition to promoting child sexual abuse with their logo and financial sponsorship, they now own the very popular brands that most of us here in the US eat.

Regardless of how you feel about the subject matter, please watch the whole thing because it's a lesson in compassion and simple humanity for us all. I'm not sharing this to cram an agenda down anyone's throats. I don't care if you support gay marriage or not, although I detest homophobes. I'm doing it because this is WRONG in every sense. 

It doesn't matter gay or straight, black or white, whether it be a case of sexism, creedism, racism, or bigotry, this is WRONG!!! If someone in your family finds someone to LOVE, be happy for them and mind your own fucking business. You don't have to support their lifestyle, but if you can't support them in a consenting adult relationship with a person they love who makes them happy, you relinquish the moral right to call them family. 

Family should want each other to be happy, not set out to make each other miserable and torment anyone who brings joy to their lives. I came from a family who would go above and beyond to make sure I was miserable and seen as the worst of the worst through lies and hate. I may not be gay but this could just as well have been me in other situations. It could be us all. 

Would you be Tom? Would you be Shane? Would you be Tom's twisted, hateful family? Or would you be Shane's loving and supportive family, loving him just because he is blood and deserves love?

Facebook needs way more relationship status choices than there are now, and I intend to think of quite a few to add here. I'll start with: "Married until murder is no longer a capital offense."
