Shaking down the Pentagon for $18

I hope you have a lot of rations stockpiled somewhere. If you aren't already a survivalist or one of those creepy hoarders planning for the end of the world, now might be a good time to subscribe to "How To Turn Piss Into Water for Dummies." 

No, no.. This isn't about conspiracy theories (especially after my last post). This, my friends, is very real and it's all because of anti-military government and the people who have demanded the cut backs we've been seeing for over 4 years. 

Notice I said OVER 4 years. 

I've been a Navy wife since 1995. I've seen the effect 3 presidents have had on our national defense and our men and women in uniform (and their dependents). The last 10 years have seen the most dramatic decline in our readiness and morale, and it's been due in large to lack of support by Capital Hill and in 2 cases, the Oval Office, itself. This has resulted in contracting out to civilians jobs that our service personel have trained for but are no longer allowed to work on, 1% and sometimes less in annual pay raises, and stripping away of incentives to not only recruit new blood but keep those who have proudly served this country for many years. 

Why talk about all this now? Well .... and I say this with a little snicker, though it's not really funny ... the rest of this country is about to find out the hard way why disregarding our military as a non-essential and draining part of our economy was the dumbest thing the American people have done yet.

Let's talk about ripples. 

You know that old fable about tossing a pebble into a pond and seeing the ripples that go on to create great change across the rest of the water? Cutting back on funding for the military is that pebble, and the livelihood of every American citizen is about to be caught in the wake. 

See, because of this new Healthcare Bill, the funding for our defense has been drastically cut. You see, though, Obamacare is just the latest excuse. There have been cuts over the last 10+ years that have made taking from our national defense a very bad habit and a hard one to break. It's come to a point where the government has cut so much, and is still cutting, that last week, my husband couldn't get approved for an $18 wrench they needed to get a security boat back up and running. They had to go to Home Depot and buy one out of their own wallet. 

Prior to 9/11, major Naval deployments were 6 months long. Post 9/11, they became 7-9 months. Because of recent cut backs, deployments will now be at least 1 year long because we can't afford the fuel for shorter deployments. See, we always have a presence in our allies' ports. To do so, our fleets must always be on the move so that when one fleet leaves a port, it is being immediately replaced with the next fleet. Well, we can't do that anymore. We don't have the funds for the fuel to get those fleets moving around so much. 

Required uniforms and dressings used to be covered in paychecks. No more. They are out-of-pocket expenses now. And in case you want to bitch about taxes paying for someone's uniform, the military literally pays their own checks since they pay taxes just like everyone else. What other jobs do you know make you pay your own salary? And not only do they pay their own salary, they are responsible for paying for those deadbeats who refuse to work because welfare is just too good and getting better every year. 

You may be wondering how any of this effects the rest of the country. Other than how scared you should be that we can't afford to send out our troops at a moment's notice and can't even afford an $18 tool? Okay .... Starting this summer, the civilian contractors will be forced to take 22 vacation days - without pay. See, the civilians the government has forced the military to use in place of better qualified military personel are paid from that military defense budget the government likes to dip into like their own personal piggy bank. So, if we can't afford an $18 wrench, how the hell do you think we can afford to pay a civilian employee? Don't even ask about overtime. That doesn't exist anymore for civilian contrators. 

Now, you may be wondering how any of this effects non-military or civilians who aren't working DoD jobs. I'll give you a little example: 

Before 9/11, we were stationed in Virginia. I hated that place! They treated military like shit. The cops would see a military tag on a car and stop it just to harass the service person or their spouse. Places of business would sneer when we would present our out-of-state drivers license and military ID, their employees would talk down to us, we would be the last served/helped, and we would receive the bottom-of-the-barrel merchandise if others were waiting for the same thing. There was a push around that time, too, to get Naval Air Station Oceana shut down. "It's too noisy!" they screamed. Noise pollution, danger from the jets flying in over traffic and businesses, etc... It didn't matter that the base had been built in the middle of nowhere and the residence CHOSE to build and live around it. They were very close to winning the decision to have it shut down when 9/11 happened. Then, everything changed. 

Hubby left on deployment as part of the response, I went back to Louisiana to be with my father, and then we were stationed in TX. We returned to Virginia 4 years later to find a completely different general opinion of our military. 

Oceana not only didn't get shut down, it became a jewel in Virginia's board of tourism crown. Police harassment of service members was practically non-existent, not even traffic fines. Military received discounts almost everywhere and were first to be served, and served with a smile and quality service. You really couldn't go anywhere and not feel appreciated as a service person or a dependent. 

I started asking around and discovered my suspicion that they had the shit scared out of them from the attacks was only part of the reason attitudes changed. The response to the attacks resulted in most of the military presence in Virginia's port cities to vanish. They were either on ships or planes headed overseas or dependents going home to other states to be with their families. The economy suffered tremendously. A lot of businesses even had to shut down because the majority of their income came from the military and military families. 

Now, what do you think is going to happen when our military is spread so thin that over half of them are overseas for a year? 

Then, you have to consider the cutbacks that are forcing early retirement of seasoned sailors and the bad press supported by our government that keeps young men and women from enlisting. It's becoming harder for retired and honorably discharged military to find good jobs. Everyone is suffering right now but the military has more stacked against them because most employers no longer accept service training as experience and because a lot of employers don't want the risk of a new employee leaving for duty should another attack occur. 

Then you have the potential recruits. So many men and women in the military joined for a better chance at life, a firm start on their future, and support for their families. Many did so to get away from gang influences, violent homes, dangerous and unhealthy surroundings. If these people won't get treated better in the military, what's the use of putting forth that effort when sitting back selling drugs or collecting welfare is easier and makes them richer than a government job?

Even if they did join, we don't have the money to send them to specialized schools anymore. Yep, all that training that they need to keep a ship or a tank etc... running is now shut down, leaving all that work to civilian contractors ... who will begin looking for other jobs outside of the DoD since they are now being forced to take 22 days of unpaid vacation. 

Oh, gee, forgot healthcare! While all the civilians debate this healthcare bill that is taking money away from our defense, it is already in effect for the military and their dependents. Let me tell you .... IT SUCKS FUCKING ASS! 

Military healthcare was already subpar, unless you were really lucky, but now we are being forced to only seek care from the medical school bottom-of-the-class, which includes those who took their training as part of their military service. When you can't afford to pay good doctors to teach military personel seeking medical training, you get free-clinic lessons. 

Wondering how that would effect civilians? What do you think is going to happen when the recipients of that shitty health care get out of the military and need civilian care and insurance? Can't work because of health issues, you become a burden on society. I guess that's all fine and dandy for those who don't mind forking over more money for welfare and medicaid. What happens when the majority of your paycheck goes to those who can't work because they need specialized medical care because of the fucked up treatment they received while in the military? On top of the civilians who are on medicaid and welfare? 

Speaking of welfare ...... Yeah, guess what demographic receives the highest in government assistance in many places in the US? Active duty military. Oh, wait, I forgot. The government now says military families can no longer receive government assistance. It isn't there. Maybe it's in the cushions of the captain's chair like the $18 for that wrench. 

Don't think for a minute I'm putting all of this on the current administration. We've had Republican-controlled Congress and a Republican president during this last 17 years I've been a Navy wife. We see it worse now simply because all those little chips in the piggy have finally made it fall apart. What I do hold this administration accountable for is not only ceasing this behavior but continuing it. 

I don't know where they plan on getting more money when the DoD well runs dry, but the rest of you might want to start keeping your money in the Private Interest Bank.... i.e. under your mattress. 

Spitting on the dead

I'm not going to spend my precious time on this shit but only to say things like this are what started my serious considerations to not only leave Facebook (pages supporting these theories were spreading like wildfire and their members threatening the lives of anyone disagreeing) but to, also, leave the conservative camp. Although I had already distanced myself from conservatives after they gift wrapped the election for Obama by their hateful bigotry, I didn't officially call them out until groups of conservative conspiracy theorist started making pages and groups to dispute and all out declare the shootings in Aurora, CO, and Newton, CT never happened. They have even come right out and said the funerals were a hoax and the parents of the children were actors who never had children. 

I don't believe in "hell" as it pertains to the christian doctrine, but I do believe in Karma. She has her hands full with these people, and I feel we have finally reached such a descent in our humanity that there is only one option left. I say we are long overdue for a cleansing.

I've chosen to stay out of the conspiracy theories (for the most part) because to me, until someone has evidence to support reasons for forming that theory, it's more of an OPINION. I don't like supporting opinions that cause irrational and emotional thinking to spread like small pox. Now, however, there is finally something tangible to sink our teeth into, and it has come directly from the source rather than a secretive anti-government camp hidden high in the hills. The most damning thing here in my opinion is that it is being reported by the very same media that has criticized any dissension against the current administration. 

I want to go on record here and say that regardless of the "man in charge" at this time, I wholeheartedly believe in a one-sided government. I no longer believe there are separate political parties. Even Ron Paul is part of it as a distraction. Anyone who believes we are still a nation fairly represented by different political parties has had their head in the sand for the better part of the last  6 years. The person seated in the oval office is simply a figurehead to keep us thinking we're still in control of our fate when in reality, American citizens have a say in nothing. Except, maybe, where to run for cover......

Take a Rare Look at How Obama Decides to Send Drones to Kill Americans

Human rights advocates were floored on Monday night when NBC News published the details of an alarming Justice Department memo detailing the protocol for sending drones after United States citizens. It's not as if they hadn't suspected that the Obama administration's top secret drone attack protocol contained some unsavory details. They just didn't expect them to be so frightfully broad. The scoop by Michael Isikoff is actually startling not for the details but rather for the lack of details. It's very vague about a decision-making process that puts American lives on the line. Put simply, the government believes that a lethal drone attack against an American citizen is justified if the targets are a) "senior operational leaders" of al-Qaeda or b) "an associated force."

One of those two qualifiers is infinitely more worrisome than the other. Going after leaders of al Qaeda makes sense. That's what the War on Terror is all about, right? Breaking down networks of violent terrorists and keeping Americans safe. If an American happens to be caught up with al Qaeda, someone like Anwar al-Awlaki, then well… they shouldn't be surprised if they're getting chased by drones. At least that's what we've been told so far. How and why these attacks are carried out by drones is also detailed in the memo, but we'll get back to that in a second.

But what does "an associated force" mean? It seems like the guy who sells the terrorists bomb supplies would probably qualify, but what about the unknowing neighbor or the hired hand? Can we just kill them too in good conscience? Quite unfortunately, the government isn't exactly sure. The memo suggests that anyone who "present[s] an 'imminent' threat of violent attack against the United States" qualifies for assassination "a lawful killing in self defense," but that "does not require the United States to have clear evidence that a specific attack on U.S. persons and interests will take place in the immediate future." In other words, an "informed, high-level" official can order the killing of any American citizen that was "recently" involved in threatening "activities." As Isikoff points out, the memo fails to define both of those terms.

"This is a chilling document," said Jameel Jaffer, deputy legal director of the American Civil Liberties Union.  "Basically, it argues that the government has the right to carry out the extrajudicial killing of an American citizen. … It recognizes some limits on the authority it sets out, but the limits are elastic and vaguely defined, and it's easy to see how they could be manipulated." We've already seen some of this vague authority in action. A couple of years ago, The New York Times provided some insight into how subjective the process of deciding when to kill and when not to kill American citizens based on a top secret memo that justified the killing of al-Awlaki. That document as well as this latest leak from the Justice Department essentially says that a lethal attack, likely by a drone, is the method of choice whenever a capture mission would put other American lives on the line. Again, the documents are very vague about where to draw the line.

Inevitably, this latest revelation into how the Obama administration runs the War on Terror behind closed doors leads to more questions than answers. How, for instance, do they decided when to kill non-U.S. citizens? Previous reporting on the issue says that the government considers any military-aged male to be an insurgent, so it seems like pretty much anybody in the general region of Afghanistan or Pakistan could expect to find themselves in America's crosshairs. But again, we don't know because the Obama administration is keeping it completely secret, despite years worth of calls to disclose its decision-making process.

This could be the beginning of an enlightening time for those who demand answers about the government's shady drone program. On Thursday, John Brannan has his confirmation hearing where the Senate will decide whether or not he's fit to run the Central Intelligence Agency. Since he's more or less the architect of America's drone war, we're sure the Senators will have a question or two about this memo and, we hope, some memos that we haven't seen before.

Super Bowl Ads For A Sucky Weekend

This has been a really suckish weekend. I had to put my 19 year old cat to sleep on Saturday, then my 3 year old fish died yesterday. I don't care for SuperBowl commercials because, quite frankly, it's greed and squander while there are so many causes out there that need the money wasted on 30 second sound bytes. At any rate, I needed something this morning to help me smile, even for a  few minutes. Yahoo was doing a special on the SuperBowl ads from yesterday, so I took a look. A few good, most bad - very, very bad (and don't get me started on the half-time show with Beyonce that proves things really do get worse before they get better). The following are my favorite 5 and why. Enjoy!


#5 Budweiser "Brotherhood".
Now, this one is very cool but I couldn't have it any higher on my list because it reminded me of losing my cat. Took me about 15 minutes to stop crying so I could move on to the others.

#4 Milk starring Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson. 

It's funny, it's sweet, it's well done, and he's hot as fuck, so there ya go....

It isn't that I like Calvin Klein. It isn't that I'm a fan of their ads because I haven't forgotten their attempted child porn with underage models (it was debatable so I let the temporary flub go). They moved past that and so will I (as long as they don't go brain dead again). I'm not even hot and bothered by the model in this ad. The thing that appeals to me the most to make this my #1 pick is the reaction from the men.

Comment after comment on the Yahoo! sports page featuring the ads from Sunday has men completely freaking out over the horror of a half-naked, totally ripped fitness freak that is a man instead of a woman. Even on the YouTube posting of it and the CK website. The men are going crazy freaking out all over the internet (and I'm sure in body shops and over WoW games everywhere) because of this ad.

They are saying things like women are hypocrites for cheering for this ad while attacking the hundreds of ads featuring lingerie-clad women, that ads like this are only shown to bend to the gay agenda (no, I'm serious), that the Super Bowl ad execs should all be fired for putting this disgusting show of man-flesh in the middle of a sporting event, and the funniest of all? The dozens of comments attacking the man for being a fitness freak when "real men don't look like that."

These uncivilized, insecure, half-baked imbeciles have no problem with the scantily clad cheerleaders and dance squads simulating sexual acts during their routines, or the half-time shows with stripper-wannabe female performers, or the numerous Victoria's Secret ads that all look like the prelude to expensive porn. Air one 30 second ad of a guy showing his well-sculpted physique while only wearing boxer-briefs, and these same men go into a rage about how it's indecent, not family-friendly for the SuperBowl, and sets unrealistic standards for "real" men.

The hissy fits alone make this #1 worthy for me.

Honorable mention:
The artistic quality is badass in this one I love it! Only problem is the fish I lost 2 weeks ago was a black Beta, and the fish I lost yesterday was a dark blue Beta. So, bad memories again but still very cool.

Last but not least: #1 Worst Ad Complaint.
This has to be the most fucktarded issue with a SuperBowl commercial yet. Stop it. Just .. Stop. We have gone far beyond the scope of "Little Boy Who Cried Wolf" to the point of killing the messenger. Over-exaggerations like this are why racism has become such a joke and a volatile subject at the same time.

Anonymous: It's time to rethink your chosen idol

I have had reason to loathe Anonymous and reason to praise them. I've cheered their attacks on pedophile groups and the Westboro Baptist Church, but I've harshly criticized their release of average citizens' personal information who did nothing wrong just to make a point. Respect or ridicule, the one aspect of this hacktivist group ..... THE hacktivist group ... would be their simple ignorance of implementing the figure of Guy Fawkes and his mask made famous by the movie V for Vendetta.

Anonymous prides itself for standing up for the basic freedoms of the human race, regardless of age, gender, race, creed, nationality, or political preference. They wage war full force against governments and organizations that threaten that freedom and attempt to oppress the natural born right of every human being to simply live.

Knowing all of this about the group that has fought the corruption of church and state, one must question their choice of Guy Fawkes, the notorious (though not as famous as St. Patrick) terrorist of the Vatican.

See, GUIDO Fawkes was a proud member of the English Catholics responsible for the November 5, 1605, assassination attempt on King James 1. It was an attempt to end Protestant authority and aide the Vatican in controlling the throne of England. He was captured before he could complete his mission (which was simply to sit beside a stockpile of explosives and light the fuse when the time came), then tortured and killed after he divulged the Vatican terrorist group's plans.

Guy Fawkes was an unapologetic terrorist for the Roman Catholic Church, proud of his role in helping the Vatican continue to murder innocent people who simply didn't want to worship God in their way. And this is who Anonymous now uses as their symbol of freedom....

In reality, Guy Fawkes would be on the Vatican committee to oversee the removal of anything unflattering to Rome and anything else deemed as a hazard to the peaceful demeanor of society (like all those OWS rallies).  How many Anonymous members and supporters would truly become his victims if the man was alive today?

Truth be told, Guy Fawkes represents the enemy of everything Anonymous holds dear and fights to protect.

I understand every movement needs a symbol, and not just a cool artistic design. It needs a living specimen of the greatness the organization wishes to portray.

I believe that if I had a say in who that symbol would be for Anonymous, I would choose Giordano Bruno. I'm a little surprised, actually, that he or any of the numerous other champions for freedom of knowledge weren't chosen over a symbol for thought control.

Giordano Bruno. I hadn't heard of him until I was watching my dirty little secret, Ancient Aliens. Bruno had the unmitigated gall to dare challenge the Vatican's stance on the Earth being the center of the universe.

Through his own endeavors to discover the mysteries of the universe outside of the sanctioned education of the Dominican priesthood (of which he was a member for 11 years), he came to find God was more in nature than in the words of man. He broadened his experiences by seeking truth in science, which lead to his insane notions that our planet not only isn't the center of our universe but only one of perhaps millions of other planets in creation.

"Heresy!" they screamed and threw him in prison, where he remained faithful to real Truth and determined to share the real wisdom of our existence with anyone he could reach. Even upon his death as yet another of Rome's victims burned at the stake, he refused to betray what he knew in his heart and soul was truth. He was murdered for seeking knowledge by the tyrannical powers Guy Fawkes emulated.

Giordano Bruno was a human being only wishing the freedom to be his own person and seeking the truth in science and creation to be shared with those wishing to follow that path, while the Vatican was the governing force determined to silence Truth and oppress freedom.

Anonymous can keep Fawkes and snuggle soundly with his cowardly mask. I have found my hero, the very real symbolism of escape from the shackles of oppressive ignorance and forefather of what many pagans and spiritualists who embrace science follow today.

Healing Hate

The best way to deal with cruel and hate filled people is to put a mirror in front of them so they can see how many flaws they have, themselves. Many won't catch it or will refuse to acknowledge it, but statistically, some will take note and change. Maybe not today or tomorrow or next week, but that moment of clarity will never go away. Talk about EXCESSIVELY strange! I just had a very creepy message exchange with a guy I was friends with, Steve Oliver. He basically insinuated I am a government spy and suggested he was going to hack me to get to the bottom of my true identity. Not in those exact words but he dropped hacking terms after ORDERING me to answer his cryptic questions "and you have 10 seconds to answer each question." Then he unfriended me. 

Shit is too fucking weird on that site. I suggest that if any of you with a Facebook account are going to keep your accounts, you immediately set up the new and improved security code features. And change your passwords every month!

Hidely-ho, conservarinos! It’s your long-suffering pal, Conservative Rumor Control (CRC), fighting a losing battle against false memes and idiotic rumors in our community. My latest post is sure to get me tarred-and-feathered (a better fate than last week’s attempted draw-and-quartering), so here goes! And start heatin’ up that tar!

The meme we’ll be tackling today is the assertion that Obama is purging the military of any top military leaders who won’t pledge their willingness to fire on U.S. citizens. Now, to a legitimate reporter of news, one lesson that should always be followed is “extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence.” The more extraordinary the claim, the more you have to, um, what’s that word…oh, right – PROVE it.

But for the Obama military purge story, we have to rely solely on the word of one “Dr.” Jim Garrow. Yep, that’s it. Jimmy Garrow claims he heard it from a former senior military leader who is one of “America’s foremost military heroes.” Of course, Jimbo can’t tell us WHO that “military leader” is, because, well, why wouldn’t we just take his word for it? I mean, Jimster is a “2009 Nobel Peace Prize nominee” and a “renowned author and activist.” And he has “Dr.” in front of his name. Case closed – time to pre-register for those Obama concentration camps, ‘cause the military purge MUST be real!

On the other hand, since “Dr.” Garrow expects us to take his word for everything, he has legitimately opened himself up to questions about his integrity and character. See, I try to painstakingly research everything I write about, specifically so that I don’t ask readers to take anything on my word alone.

But not Jimmy. So let’s look at this fellow who is asking us to take his extraordinary claim on absolutely no evidence beyond his word.

Jimmuh has an interesting history of pulling the whole “I heard it from an important dude…who I can’t actually mention” thing. It’s not even always political – it’s just the way he rolls. In August 2010 he told the Guelph Mercury (an Ontario, Canada daily newspaper, published since 1854) that a major motion picture was being made about his life, and it would star a “famous actor.” Who? Garrow wouldn’t say, but he assured the paper “you’d know him.”

Of course, no movie was ever made.

Same goes for that “Nobel Prize nominee” thing. See, the Nobel committee, as policy, does not release the names of nominees until FIFTY YEARS after the year they were nominated. So, anyone can claim to have been nominated in 2009. Trust me, I try to get laid constantly by using that line (although I claim to have been nominated every year since 1998…and no, no woman has ever bought it).

The Mercury asked Jim if he could name the person who nominated him (there are no rules against doing that). He told the paper that the man was “the head of a Chinese university,” but, again, no, he “can’t reveal the man’s name, the university he heads, or the province he’s from.”

So, with the military purge, the Nobel Prize nomination, and the “famous actor,” Jimmo has the same answer – just take my word for it.

But he’s still got that “Dr.” in front of his name, right?

Well, kinda no. His “degree” is from a North Carolina diploma mill (an unaccredited “theology school” that’s been accused of defrauding Christians), but that’s not even the worst part. He told the Canadian newspaper that it’s only an honorary degree! An “honorary degree” from an unaccredited “pay-to-play” diploma mill. Wow.

But what about Jimmer’s heroic work rescuing children in China? I mean, this is the reason he said that phantom university head nominated him for the Nobel. Well, the Mercury interviewed adoption activists who checked his references (the ones he provided to them), and couldn’t find any proof this guy was doing jack-spit in China.

Brian Stuy, an adoption activist from Salt Lake City who runs Research-China.org, told the Mercury: “I talked with Jim Garrow a lot about the program. He indicated areas in China where he works, and I’ve made contact with orphanages in those areas and have been unable to substantiate anything he’s said.”

Garrow’s response is the main thing that came to convince me he’s full of crap: “Garrow says he’s not surprised his work isn’t known in China because his organization tries to keep a low profile there. He says he can’t reveal which orphanages or even geographical areas his organization works in for good reason. ‘We are doing stuff that is illegal in China,’ Garrow says.”

Okay, if you’re running a foreign organization conducting illegal activities in China – activities so illegal that you have to keep your operations underground, YOU DON’T ANNOUNCE TO A NEWSPAPER THAT YOU’RE CONDUCTING ILLEGAL ACTIVITIES IN CHINA.

I mean, that’s just elementary. The Chinese government is not fond of foreign enterprises that conduct illegal operations in their country, and, more than that, they are especially harsh on organizations that try to shed light on the country’s draconian one-child policy and female orphan issues. So, if you’re actually IN CHINA doing illegal things, you don’t blare it with a bullhorn. The very fact that Jimski is willing to publicly state that his organization is breaking Chinese laws tells me he’s not doing anything of the sort.

And while we’re speaking of illegal…Jimmy’s “child rescue” organization (“Pink Pagoda”) is not a registered charity, and he told the Mercury that he does not ask for or accept donations…to which the Mercury responded by revealing text from the organization’s website clearly soliciting donations.

Jimmy claims his organization is funded by “private business interests” in China. When asked by the Mercury to name any of them, his reply? “You don’t need to know that. It doesn’t make the story better.”

Ah, once again – “take my word for it.”

The Mercury article goes into way more detail, including Garrow’s costly failed Internet ventures, his teaching career (which ended when his teaching certificate was suspended), and his unregistered “flying school” which was shuttered after a civil aviation tribunal ruled that he had intentionally deceived his instructors.

Oh, and this is funny. The one time Jimbo does “name names,” he’s caught lying. In 2009 he claimed to have brought in respected attorney Kenneth Xue, senior partner in the Grandall Legal Group, as his organization’s legal advisor. Reached by the Mercury, Xue replied, “I have never been involved with Pink Pagoda and have no….idea about this organization. I am really angry with this guy.”

So, my fellow conservatives, make your own call about whether we should be taking Jim Garrow’s word for such an extraordinary claim as the “Obama military purge.” Is this a case of a stopped clock finally being right, or a clever, self-promoting individual who’s realized that post-2012 conservatives have debased themselves into a mass of undiscerning, gullible followers who will believe anything, from anyone, if it’s sufficiently anti-Obama?

You decide.

I’ll close with my opening theme – Jim Garrow made his character and integrity an issue by asking us to take him solely at his word for his startling claim.

Get off of Lance Armstrong's ass already!

I am so sick and tired of hearing about Lance Armstrong's "sins."

Here we have a man who used all of his accomplishments to become a very generous and caring philanthropist and activist but made a mistake that he lied about to protect the charities in his name and the benefactors of that work. He is stripped of everything, including his dignity, and is thrown to the lions for the entertainment of a hypocritically judgmental society.

The same society that earlier praised Michael Phelps for his proud admission of smoking pot. The same society that criticized his critics for being "uptight," claiming "everyone does it!" and denying his stature could possibly have a negative influence on the children looking up to him. The same society who now throws rotten fruit at Lance for being a disgrace and a harmful influence.

This Olympic swimmer is then allowed not only to keep the medals he earned while doping, he is allowed to continue to compete.

Michael Phelps, who has done nothing for the world but become a poster boy for legalizing marijuana, is risen above all blame while Lance Armstrong, who has dedicated his life to men with cancer and possibly saved hundreds if not thousands of lives through his organizations and awareness campaigns promoting male health, gets thrown off of his bike in a mob rage and kicked repeatedly.

Something is terribly wrong with this country and it isn't Lance Armstrong.

Marijuana is an ILLEGAL and CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE. It is against Olympic regulations to be under the influence of any ILLEGAL DRUG before, during, or after competition. One with intelligence and a rational understanding of the drug can effectively argue that Phelps' use of it during training and the games directly resulted in his wins due to the calming effect on what would otherwise have been a stressful time in every athlete's career. He was able to compete because he used the drug to calm his anxiety. THAT is a performance enhancing drug.

Phelps was made a poster child for the promotion of marijuana as a legal recreational drug. Regardless of the arguments in support of it, I can tell you pot is a very dangerous drug and causes more brain damage than cigarettes and drinking. Ask a recovering addict. They'll tell you the truth of it. So society is kicking Armstrong for using a substance that only athletes can get or even care about, but they give Phelps a free ride and let him promote to their children the use of a dangerous mind-altering drug anyone can get from almost any street corner in the country.

I won't even get into how many victims of child sexual abuse have stated in their interviews with police that their abuser used pot to make them more docile. Society wants to help pedophiles convince their victims it's okay since an Olympic swimmer used it.

I am just get tired of people calling Lance Armstrong names for his testicular cancer, and it's been going on ever since his diagnosis before any of this doping issue took place. 

These inconsiderate assholes who were making fun of the "one-nut cyclist" were encouraging a stigma for other men who would be too embarrassed to talk about it, even with their doctors, so their cancer wouldn't be caught in time to prevent their deaths. People don't realize in their mad dash to tear a public figure like him apart all of the damage they will be doing to the people the person helped along the way. When they do realize it, they simply don't give a shit. 

Who cares if he got more men to check themselves and talk to their doctors? He won races with drugs! Who cares if he set an example for younger men and boys to always take care of themselves and not let small-minded people keep them from getting help when they need it? He won a bicycle race and that just wasn't fair! 

I realize he lied but I know why he did it. He said before that his biggest fear was that the charities would suffer and the people who needed that help would be hurt in irreversible ways. 

It's really sad that of all the cyclists, he is the one called out. Everyone knows at least 80% of them doped. A few of them have already come forward to admit it goes on like crazy. But just because he was the winner, he gets hung out to dry with no regard for the millions who will be hurt by it. Like I said before, there is something seriously wrong with this country, and it isn't Lance Armstrong.
