Oatmeal Revenge

(QUOTED TEXT)

The comic strip artist who owns "The Oatmeal" wound up in a heated issue with the owners of funnyjunk.com. The problem was that funnyjunk.com had hosted over a thousand of the comic's original images without crediting him for it. When the comic went to the site and asked them numerous times to remove them or at least credit him, he grew frustrated as they continued to ignore him. So he wrote a blog about it showing the actual links of where every one of his comics were posted there, and showed how they weren't being credited back to him.

The owners of funnyjunk.com got so upset by the blog article and it's popularity, that they had a lawyer mail the comic a letter, telling him that he needed to pay them $20,000 for defamation of their website or he would be taken to court. The Oatmeal comic was obviously floored by this, as he was thinking, the audacity of these pricks. They steal my work and now expect me to pay them $20,000? So he made a blog article saying he would raise the money from donations and take pictures of it, then send the funnyjunk attorney the photos of the money, along with a comic of his mom having sex with a Kodiak bear. Then, donate the whole amount to charity. Well, as it turns out, he raised $211,223.04. These are the pictures being sent to funnyjunk's attorney, as promised. LOL :)

The original article can be found here.
